Translation fuses and connects cultures, forcing us to learn more of what we don’t know and making human experience universal. The impact is enormous; the question is why translated books are still so rare in today’s publishing world?

While literature in translation has not been a top priority in the Anglo-Saxon world, there exists a veritable army of translators, editors, and hardcore fans working to rectify this situation.

This week, we will discuss the challenges of selecting and publishing foreign language literature and analyze the process of translation as a combination of technical skills and creativity. We will also host a friendly translators’ battle (interpretation of a passage by K.A. Teryna) in which four different translators present their interpretation of the same passage and discuss their choices.
